In 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that more than 2.5 million 6-12 grade students used e-cigarettes. One of the reasons teens begin vaping is for the supposed stress relief it offers. However, vaping has been shown to ultimately worsen mental health issues.
When you couple vaping’s effects on mental health with the potential for withdrawal symptoms and nicotine dependance, you get the opposite of stress relief – and a dangerous mix for teens.

The American Heart Association conducted a study with nicotine-only vapers, THC only-vapers, dual-vapers (both nicotine and THC), and people who had never vaped. They found that more than 50% of people who vaped reported experiencing suicidal thoughts in the past year, as opposed to only one-third of non-vapers.
Teens who turn to vaping for any kind of self-medication are likely to be met with an amplified version of everything they want to escape.
