What schools are saying
In the 2018-2019 school year, 506 schools signed up for this program. Here is what they thought of our program:
- 100% of survey respondents said the program raised awareness about underage drinking at their school.
- 97% of survey respondents said that the video kept students' attention.
Step 1: Register
Register your school online for our 2019-2020 program. Program materials will be available immediately. This includes the video, online pledge card option and other resources. You will receive a confirmation email after registering your school.
Step 2: Receive
Each registered middle school will receive a school kit in the mail, or access to the program online. This kit and/or your online login will contain all of the materials that you will need to successfully implement the program at your school.
At this point, you can decide what day you will plan your Safe and Sober program. While most middle/junior high schools plan their program for Red Ribbon Week, it is not required. You may want to utilize the program during Drug and Alcohol Facts Week (Jan. 22-27) or during April which is Alcohol Awareness Month. We just ask that you plan to host your program at some point during the 2019-2020 school year.
Step 3: Rally
Play the video presentation in an assembly or in individual classrooms. Be sure that ALL students watch the video. After the presentation, allow each student the opportunity to take the pledge either on a pledge card or via our online experience. Be sure to share the success Safe and Sober is having at your school with your community by sharing your online profile page.
Feel free to make the program work best for your school. We encourage you to take advantage of the discussion and activity guides located online and in your school kit. These are designed to be used as a supplement to the Safe and Sober video and provide you with valuable resources.
Step 4: Report
Count all the collected pledge cards, or check online to see how many students have taken the pledge. A pledge counts if it has a valid signature at least one box checked. Report your school's pledge rate on our website, or by mailing in the pledge reporting card found in the Instruction Notebook in your School Kit.
All pledge reports are due by May 15, 2020.
Step 5: Reward
All participating middle/junior high schools that complete the program and report pledge rates will be eligible to win cash prizes!
